We proudly announce ‘guest country' of Titanic 2012: Spain. Our section called
Spanish Boot focuses on the different facets of Iberian filmmaking, featuring several genres – documentary, drama, comedy – and taking us to various stunning areas of Spain.

In
The Perfect Stranger, for example, a mysterious traveller – Irish star
Colm Meaney – arrives in a small village in Majorca. He doesn't speak Spanish and hides secrets, still becomes everyone's silent and wise confessor very soon. Similarly, Half of Oscar explores dark secrets and family taboos. Its security guard and his beautiful, long-lost sister meet in a semi-abandoned salt mine in the coasts of Almeria. It is a rarity that the only language of the black comedy Catalunya Über Alles! is Catalan. The film is set in inner Catalonia and reps attitudes toward immigration and people seeking tolerance in the Catalan capital city. In the odd family drama Anything You Want a father needs to find a way to replace his young daughter’s mother to protect her, while documentary Garbo: The Spy is the story of "the greatest actor in the world", a Spanish spy who perpetrated the greatest fraud of the Second World War.
Titanic 2012 will host two directors of this section:
Ramon Tremens (Catalunya Über Alles!) and
Toni Bestard (The Perfect Stranger), they arrive in Budapest on the 18th of April. Spanish Boot is supported by the Spanish Embassy in Budapest and Cervantes Institute.
